CoreWeave vs Lambda
October 19, 2025
CoreWeave and Lambda are both American cloud providers focused on artificial intelligence and big data computing. Both offer GPU or TPU instances for training machine learning models, large language models and graphical generative models. Both platforms are optimized for frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow and offer ready-made stack solutions for ML engineers.
But CoreWeave (founded in 2017) was originally a cryptomining company before shifting to a cloud-based GPU and HPC business. This platform has significant scalability and is focused on large enterprise-level projects. CoreWeave is developing infrastructure worldwide, including in Europe and has secured multibillion-dollar contracts with big enterprises and AI labs for computing power. The platform uses the latest NVIDIA GPUs (e.g., H100, GB200, etc.).
Lambda (2012) initially began as a specialist in building corporate ML data centers and later expanded to offering cloud services for leasing such data centers. Its flagship product, "Lambda Stack" is a ready-to-use software for ML/Deep Learning including CUDA and other libraries. The platform is more accessible in terms of entry level, both in cost and ease of setup. Designing infrastructure from workstations to clusters and launching GPU instances takes just a few clicks. Therefore, Lambda is more suitable for smaller teams looking for a quick start.
