InVideo ($52.5M)
InVideo
Runway ($859.5M)
Runway
InVideo and Runway are both AI-based online video editors that offer text-to-video conversion. Both are web-based = require no software installation. They contain a library of ready-made media assets (photos, videos, templates and stock elements) that can be used in projects, support text-to-speech and automatic audio accompaniment, making it easy to create voiceovers without professional recording. Thus, both services allow quick video creation without specialized knowledge, which is useful for marketers who create content for social media and websites.

However, InVideo (founded in 2017) was originally an online video editor that was later enhanced with AI. It offers a large number of templates for various video types (Instagram, YouTube ads, presentations, etc.) and a significantly larger library of stock images and sounds. It uses AI to generate ideas and video scenarios, selects visual assets and adds music, effects automatically. Using the "Magic Box" feature, users can edit videos using text commands (e.g., delete a scene, change the voiceover accent, replace background music, etc.). InVideo offers a free version with limitations on exported video length, quality and access to AI features.

Runway (2018) is a video generation service originally built to generate videos by diffusion models trained on large multimedia datasets. In addition to text-to-video, it can also make video-to-video (generation long video based on a short sample). Generated videos can be edited to adjust visual style, scene sequence, consistency of characters and objects across scenes. Some models allow the use of reference images to define characters, environments and styles. Runway is used by both professionals (from film, advertising industries) and creatives who need the higher video quality and control over the results.
